Surrealism

Surrealism is an artistic and literary movement, dedicated to expressing the imagination as revealed in dreams, free of the conscious control of reason. Surrealism inherited an anti-rationalist sensibility from Dada, and was shaped by emerging theories on our perception of reality. Also a 20th-century art form in which an artist or writer combines unrelated images or events in a very strange and dreamlike way. Mainly originated in the 1900's. Surrealism was first defined by André Breton in the Surrealist Manifesto of 1924. Andre Breton was the founding father of surrealism.
